Overview

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Android Studio team and build new features for developer tools. You'll work with Java and Kotlin to enhance the Kotlin Compiler and Android Studio. This role requires 2+ years of experience in software development.

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in compiler construction or related fields. Your background includes building developer tools such as compilers, automated releases, and test automation frameworks. You are proficient in Java or Kotlin programming languages, and you have contributed to open source projects or engaged with communities like Stack Overflow. Your understanding of data structures and algorithms is solid, enabling you to tackle complex problems effectively.

You are versatile and display leadership qualities, eager to take on new challenges across the full-stack as technology evolves. Your experience allows you to bring fresh ideas from various areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, and large-scale system design. You thrive in collaborative environments and are excited about the opportunity to work on critical projects that impact millions of users worldwide.

Desirable

An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus, as is experience with mobile development and UI design. Familiarity with security, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing will enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer III at Google, you will join the Android Studio team, focusing on building new features for tools that support Android developers using Kotlin. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and developing existing Google-owned features in the Kotlin Compiler, collaborating with multiple teams both inside and outside of Google to direct technical contributions. You will work on projects that require you to engage deeply with the Kotlin Compiler and Android Studio, ensuring that these tools meet the needs of developers worldwide.
