Who you are

You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 1 year of experience in manufacturing. You are detail-oriented and capable of performing basic arithmetic, which is essential for the precision required in machining tasks. Your ability to read accurately and write clearly will help you document processes effectively. If you have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, that would be a plus, as it demonstrates your familiarity with the industry and its standards.

What you'll do

As a CNC Machinist at SpaceX, you will be responsible for deburring hardware in the assigned work center, contributing to timely deliveries to downstream customers. You will chase machine cut threads to size and inspect surface finishes, threads, and broken edges to ensure quality standards are met. Operating clean line equipment and performing general part finishing according to requirements will be part of your daily tasks. You will also conduct preventative maintenance on CNC machines weekly and monthly, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.

Your role will involve maintaining the shop's cleanliness, including managing chip bins and oils, and performing general upkeep activities. You will complete work instructions and test plans to document necessary data throughout each process. Operating CNC machines to produce flight hardware will be crucial in achieving program-level production rate goals. You will prioritize daily work to ensure high machine uptime across the assigned shop area and manage cutting tools in CNC machines to ensure they are loaded and measured correctly before upcoming programs.
