Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Operations Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 99.999% uptime. This position requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and knowledge of data center operations.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems — you have hands-on experience troubleshooting complex equipment and ensuring operational efficiency in mission-critical environments. Your expertise in maintaining and operating data center facilities makes you a vital part of the team that keeps technology infrastructure running smoothly. You understand the importance of uptime and are committed to achieving extraordinary performance metrics, such as 99.999% uptime. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working alongside diverse teams of engineers and specialists.

You possess a solid understanding of electrical systems, including three-phase electrical systems, switch gear, UPSs, and PDUs — you are comfortable working with stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems. Your mechanical knowledge extends to cooling systems, air handlers, and pumps, enabling you to address a wide range of operational challenges. You are detail-oriented and proactive in identifying potential issues before they escalate, ensuring that all systems function optimally.

You are eager to learn and grow within the field of data center operations — you are open to feedback and continuously seek opportunities to enhance your skills. You understand the critical role that data centers play in supporting global digital experiences and are motivated to contribute to the success of AWS Infrastructure Services. You are a team player who values collaboration and communication, knowing that the best results come from working together.

Desirable

Experience with AWS services or cloud infrastructure is a plus, as it aligns with the mission of maintaining the cloud's operational integrity. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in data center operations will further enhance your effectiveness in this role.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting mission-critical facilities within the data center. Your role will involve hands-on work with electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively. You will perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on critical infrastructure, including generators, cooling systems, and electrical distribution systems. Your ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues will be essential in minimizing downtime and maintaining high availability.

You will collaborate closely with other technicians and engineers to implement best practices in data center operations — your insights and observations will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance. You will participate in incident response activities, working to restore services as quickly as possible while adhering to safety protocols and operational guidelines.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will engage in training and development opportunities to expand your knowledge of data center technologies and operational procedures. You will have the chance to work on various projects that support the overall mission of AWS Infrastructure Services, contributing to the design, planning, and delivery of global infrastructure solutions.

What we offer

Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, financial, and other perks to support your well-being and career growth. You will have access to resources that promote professional development and opportunities to advance within the organization. Join a team that values diversity and innovation, where your contributions will have a direct impact on the success of AWS and its customers. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what matter most.
