Asana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Data Infrastructure team to build and operate systems that ensure data accuracy and availability. You'll work with technologies like Java, Python, and AWS in Warsaw with a hybrid work schedule.
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in infrastructure and operations, with a strong interest in big data systems. Your background includes working with data pipelines and ensuring data accuracy and availability for various stakeholders. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems related to data infrastructure.
You possess deep expertise in programming languages such as Java and Python, and you are familiar with cloud services like AWS. Your experience includes deploying and operating systems, as well as building new systems to meet unique challenges. You are comfortable with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, which you have used to enhance scalability and reliability in data operations.
You have a solid understanding of database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL, and you are experienced in working with big data frameworks like Apache Spark. Your skills also extend to data engineering practices, where you have designed and implemented tooling for data access, monitoring, and privacy.
You are a proactive communicator who can effectively evangelize best practices within your team and across the organization. You are passionate about building technology that drives positive change and fosters a culture of belonging.
Experience with additional data processing tools or frameworks is a plus, as is familiarity with data security practices. You may also have experience in mentoring junior engineers or leading small teams on specific projects.
In this role, you will work on cross-functional projects that define the future of Asana’s data platforms. You will collaborate closely with data engineering and other infrastructure teams to address challenges related to service models, operations, deployment, and security. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing automation for data access, scalability, monitoring, and alerting.
You will be tasked with building and operating the infrastructure that supports data pipelines, ensuring that data is accurately transported and processed from all of Asana’s product surfaces. You will also work on enhancing the existing systems to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Your role will involve engaging with stakeholders from Data Science, Business, and Product teams to understand their data needs and ensure that the infrastructure you build meets those requirements. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of data quality and availability, which are critical for informed decision-making across the company.
