Voltus is seeking a Mid to Senior Software Engineer for their Dispatch Response team to build core services and APIs for virtual power plants. You'll work with technologies like AWS, Go, and Python to support the transition to clean energy.
You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in building scalable systems — your expertise allows you to contribute effectively to the development of core services and APIs that power virtual power plants. You are comfortable working with a diverse range of technologies and have a keen interest in clean energy solutions.
Your technical skills include proficiency in programming languages such as Go and Python — you understand how to leverage these languages to create reliable and efficient backend systems. You are also familiar with frontend technologies like React, which allows you to contribute to both backend and frontend development as needed.
You have experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and understand how to utilize cloud services to enhance application performance and reliability. Your knowledge of containerization tools like Docker helps you in deploying applications seamlessly across different environments.
You are skilled in data engineering and have experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and ClickHouse — you understand how to manage and optimize data storage and retrieval for high-performance applications. Your familiarity with messaging systems like Kafka enables you to build robust data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
You approach problem-solving from a systems engineering perspective, emphasizing high reliability and thoughtful abstractions — you are adept at identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective solutions. You value collaboration and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment where you can share knowledge and learn from others.
You are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the transition to clean energy — you are motivated by the impact your work can have on the environment and society. You are open to continuous learning and growth, eager to expand your skill set and take on new challenges.
Experience with Domain Driven Design is a plus, as it aligns with the team's approach to managing complexity in software development. Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tools will also be beneficial in this role.
As a Mid to Senior Software Engineer on the Dispatch Response team, you will play a crucial role in building the technical foundation for Voltus's virtual power plants. You will be responsible for developing core services and APIs that manage a diverse portfolio of distributed energy resources in wholesale energy markets. Your work will involve interpreting real-time market and asset signals into actionable directives and operational insights.
You will collaborate closely with other engineers to design and implement scalable and reliable systems — your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided by Voltus. You will engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and improvement within the team.
You will work on integrating various technologies and systems, ensuring that the applications you develop are robust and maintainable. Your experience with cloud services will be essential as you deploy applications on AWS and utilize containerization tools like Docker to streamline development processes.
You will also have the opportunity to engage in data engineering tasks, working with databases like PostgreSQL and ClickHouse to manage data effectively. Your understanding of Kafka will enable you to build event-driven architectures that enhance the responsiveness of the systems you develop.
In this role, you will be encouraged to think critically and creatively about how to solve complex problems — you will have the autonomy to propose and implement solutions that improve the overall architecture and performance of the applications.
Voltus is committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every team member can thrive. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional development and growth. You will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to making a positive impact on the world through clean energy solutions. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what matter most.
