Overview

Google is seeking a Software Engineer II for their Payments team to develop next-generation technologies that enhance user interactions. You'll work with programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, and JavaScript. This role requires at least 1 year of software development experience.

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript. You are eager to work on projects that are critical to Google’s needs and are enthusiastic about tackling new challenges across the full-stack. Your versatility and leadership qualities will help you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can switch teams and projects as needed.

You have a strong foundation in developing accessible technologies and are familiar with concepts in information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile technologies. You are committed to best practices in software development, including style guidelines, code accuracy, testability, and efficiency.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer II on the Payments team, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions that handle information at massive scale. You will work on specific projects that contribute to Google Pay and other payment technologies, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Your responsibilities will include managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, as well as triaging product or system issues and debugging them effectively.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the software you develop integrates seamlessly with existing systems and meets user needs. You will also contribute to existing documentation or educational content, adapting it based on product updates and user feedback. Your role will require you to analyze the sources of issues and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality, ensuring that you deliver robust and reliable solutions.
