Roku is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for their Data Platform team to build and support one of the largest data lakes in the world. You'll work with technologies like Kafka, Spark, and AWS to manage vast amounts of data. This role requires strong experience in data engineering and DevOps practices.
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on DevOps and data platforms — you've successfully built and maintained large-scale data systems that handle significant volumes of data. Your expertise in tools like Kafka, Spark, and AWS allows you to design efficient data pipelines and manage complex data workflows.
You possess a deep understanding of data lake architectures and the challenges associated with processing and analyzing large datasets — you know how to optimize performance and ensure data quality across various systems. Your experience with open-source technologies and contributions to community projects demonstrate your commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
You are a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment — you enjoy working closely with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions. Your strong communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
Experience with additional data processing frameworks or tools such as Apache Hive or Pinot would be a plus — you are always eager to expand your skill set and explore new technologies that can enhance data processing capabilities.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Roku, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports one of the largest data lakes globally — your work will directly impact how data is acquired, processed, and accessed for both streaming and batch data. You will design and implement robust data pipelines using technologies like Kafka and Spark, ensuring that data flows seamlessly through the system.
You will collaborate with the Big Data team to develop tooling that facilitates data monitoring, validation, and access — your contributions will help streamline operations and improve the overall efficiency of data processing. You will also play a key role in optimizing existing systems and identifying opportunities for improvement, leveraging your expertise to enhance performance and reliability.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will engage with the open-source community, contributing to projects and sharing your knowledge with others — your involvement will help foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team. You will also mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support as they develop their skills and grow in their roles.
At Roku, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is transforming the way people watch TV — your work will have a direct impact on millions of users worldwide. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies and be part of a company that values creativity and collaboration.
