Overview

Alchemy is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for their Transactions Engine team to shape core transaction infrastructure. You'll work with Java, Spring, and various cloud technologies to ensure reliable on-chain transactions. This position requires significant experience in backend systems and blockchain technologies.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable systems that handle complex transactions. Your expertise in Java and Spring is complemented by a solid understanding of REST APIs and cloud infrastructure, allowing you to design and implement robust backend solutions. You thrive in environments where you can influence platform direction and are comfortable operating at the intersection of backend systems and blockchain execution.

Your experience with databases like PostgreSQL and your familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes enable you to optimize performance and ensure reliability in production environments. You have a strong grasp of cloud services, particularly AWS, and are well-versed in using GraphQL for efficient data retrieval. Additionally, your knowledge of blockchain technologies, including Solidity and Web3.js, positions you to contribute effectively to the development of on-chain applications.

You are a proactive communicator who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend engineers, to deliver high-quality software solutions. You understand the importance of debugging and monitoring systems, and you are committed to maintaining high transaction success rates. You are also open to mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team.

Desirable

Experience with financial systems or blockchain applications is a plus, as is familiarity with agile methodologies. You are encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Transactions Engine team, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the systems that handle transaction submission, simulation, tracking, and debugging across multiple blockchain networks. Your work will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of gasless transactions, ensuring they land on-chain predictably and at scale.

You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to design APIs that facilitate seamless interactions between users and the blockchain. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code and conducting thorough code reviews to uphold the highest standards of software quality. You will also participate in architectural discussions, contributing your insights to shape the future of our transaction infrastructure.

In addition to development tasks, you will be involved in monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues as they arise. You will leverage your expertise to implement best practices for system reliability and scalability, ensuring that our infrastructure can handle the demands of the largest financial institutions in the world.

What we offer

At Alchemy, we offer a competitive salary range of $200,000 - $220,000 annually, reflecting your experience and skills. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package that includes 401k and unlimited flexible time off, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values innovation and collaboration. You will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to bringing web3 to a billion people, providing you with the chance to make a significant impact in the blockchain space. Join us and help shape the future of on-chain applications.
