Engineering Manager, Cloud SQL

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, along with 8 years of experience in administering Postgres or other databases. With at least 3 years in people management, you understand the nuances of leading a team while driving technical excellence. Your experience includes designing and developing performance-intensive systems, particularly with multithreading and synchronization. You have a solid background in building managed services in database or storage environments, showcasing your ability to handle complex infrastructure challenges.

Your expertise extends to complex database infrastructure design, where you have successfully implemented scalable solutions. You are proficient in coding with languages such as C++ or Go, particularly for high-performance systems development. Your understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and database internals allows you to optimize systems effectively, ensuring they meet the demands of modern applications.

As a Software Engineering Manager, you possess not only the technical skills to lead major projects but also the ability to manage and mentor a team of engineers. You are adept at optimizing your own code while ensuring your team can do the same, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What you'll do

In this role, you will guide your team in designing and developing Google Cloud Platform’s highly available, massively scalable PostgreSQL database. You will define and build the blueprint for next-generation relational offerings, ensuring they are at the forefront of the industry. Your leadership will empower customers with a fully managed platform that alleviates operational overhead and maintenance, driving friction-free adoption.

You will manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and help develop your team, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to succeed.
