Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The success of Kuiper depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, and security of the products that you deliver. If you seek a fast-paced, dynamic environment; if you thrive on solving difficult problems where resolutions have high impact; and if you love the challenge of building something from scratch, then this role will be an ideal next career step.

As a Spacecraft Rigging Specialist, you will be responsible for safely rigging, lifting, and maneuver the spacecraft throughout the satellite manufacturing facility. You will work closely with multiple engineering teams on both early hardware development and setting the stage for later production hardware. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast paced, start-up like environment. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing the highest standards of execution.

- Mechanical/electrical assembly of PCB assemblies, wire harnessing, satellite components, subassemblies, and integration of final vehicle assemblies
- Run functional testing of built hardware, including setup, instrumentation, test execution, and teardown
- Operate and maintain complex automated equipment, including troubleshooting, calibration, documentation, and maintenance
- Identify equipment requirements for planned hardware builds, maintain consumables inventory, and develop procedures and processes accordingly
- ESD/EPA, 5s, and Cleanroom procedures
- Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift times 1st shift: Sun – Wed OR Wed – Sat (6 am – 4 : 30 am PST). Shift will vary, depending of program needs
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
- Able to lift up to 49lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
