Apple is seeking a Senior Applied ML Researcher to design, train, and deploy advanced models for visual and audio understanding. You'll work with technologies like Python and PyTorch, focusing on deep learning and computer vision. This role requires 4+ years of experience in machine learning engineering.
You have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. With over 4 years of experience in deep learning or machine learning engineering, you possess strong expertise in deep neural networks and modern training workflows. Your hands-on experience spans more than 8 years, particularly in computer vision and/or audio modeling. Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks, especially PyTorch, is second nature to you. You have a solid understanding of linear algebra, probability, and optimization, enabling you to build intuition from problem statements and translate them into actionable solutions.
You are familiar with generative AI and its applications in enhancing user workflows. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work closely with research scientists, engineers, and product teams to explore novel applications of deep machine learning capabilities. You are driven by the mission to elevate the workflows of millions of creators through innovative solutions.
In this role, you will design and train deep neural networks for various tasks, including video, image, audio, and audio-visual tasks. You will build models for audio-visual representation learning, cross-modal alignment, and fusion. Your work will involve developing solutions for video understanding and temporal modeling, audio-visual event detection, and multimodal classification, detection, and localization. You will tackle challenging problems at the intersection of computer vision, audio signal processing, and multimodal learning, enabling intelligent systems that can see, hear, and reason about the world.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to find innovative applications of deep learning technologies. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience for Apple's creative user base, combining generative AI with human-centered design principles. You will also be responsible for on-device deployment of the models you develop, ensuring they are optimized for performance and usability.
