Job Description

The Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) Global Physical Security (GPS) team is looking for an independent, highly talented, fast-paced and motivated Physical Security Hardware Engineer. This position will join a team of experienced and skilled Program Managers and Support Engineers in managing security technologies globally.

GPS is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing Amazon operations security infrastructure and technical solutions. We are seeking an experienced Support Engineer to join our Global Physical Security team to support hardware initiatives. As a support engineer, you will identify, test, and qualify new technology against a variety of Video Management Systems (VMS) and Access Control Systems for compatibility, integration, and functionality. You will contribute and manage various projects to integrate 3P applications and hardware within the WWOS Operations infrastructure. This position requires a deep customer focus, self-motivation, technical expertise, and strategic mindset to create and support the physical security systems and processes.

Key job responsibilities
- Test and qualify new and existing security devices against a variety of Video Management Systems (VMS) and Access Control systems. Ensuring compatibility, integration, functionality, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to obtain the necessary equipment, software, and licensing needed for testing.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve any issues found during the testing process.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers as needed.
- Implement and integrate solutions with existing physical security systems and platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Physical Security, OTS, Loss Prevention) to align initiatives with global organizational goals.
- Mentor and train junior team members on engineering best practices and technologies.
- Continuously monitor and optimize solutions to ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance.
- Create and maintain documentation for hardware engineering processes, procedures, and solutions for knowledge sharing and sustainability, such as User Guides
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and security regulations in the physical security domain


A day in the life
You will own the completion of an array of projects and security initiatives/activities designed to protect your fellow Amazonians. You obsess over internal and external customers and successfully deliver support and services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift extremely fast. You work independently and can manage security hardware projects under minimal supervision, continuously triage and prioritize accordingly, communicate clearly and compellingly and deliver exceptional products.

The successful candidate for this role is willing to work at all levels from the theoretical knowledge of security principles, to the practical application and real-world implementation of security hardware and processes.

- Experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery
- Experience troubleshooting and documenting findings
- 4+ years of experience of working with, deploying, or supporting Physical Security projects and/or infrastructure
- 4+ years of experience in technical support with a focus on hardware
- High School Diploma or equivalent- Experience in development or technical support
- Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
- Experience scripting in modern programming languages
- Certifications in one or more Video Management Systems (VMS) or Access Control Systems, or Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, PMP, AWS)
- Experience working in a global, enterprise-leel environment
- Experience in the security integration field
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
