Google is seeking a Network Design Engineer to manage scaled capacity projects and collaborate with various teams in a telecommunications environment. You'll work with skills like TCP/IP and DWDM to design and implement network systems across multiple locations.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology. Your background includes working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment, which has equipped you with the skills necessary to navigate complex projects. You possess excellent problem-solving abilities, cost-benefit analysis skills, and data analysis capabilities, allowing you to tackle challenges effectively.
You have experience managing scaled capacity augment/migration projects in a computer networking environment, including data center or colocation environments. Your expertise extends to network system design, network architecture, and technology, as well as network infrastructure. You understand the technical and process challenges associated with network planning and design, and you are adept at defining system or process requirements.
While not mandatory, experience with forecasting, planning and design tools, workflow automation tooling, and improvement will set you apart. You are familiar with building, integrating, or delivering large-scale layer 1, layer 2, or layer 3 network systems, which enhances your ability to contribute to the team effectively.
As a Network Design Engineer at Google, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will collaborate closely with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors. Your role will be pivotal in facilitating faster, better, and more efficient outcomes for the business.
You will contribute to the automation roadmap of team tasks, reducing cycle time and improving quality and consistency. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that plan and design toolsets and business processes are ready for intaking new project initiatives (NPIs). You will assist in setting up and maintaining practices and policies in network designs and plans, establishing business practices that improve performance, reliability, and reduce risk.
