Overview

Esri is seeking a Communications Manager to lead their media relations team and develop effective communication strategies. You'll be responsible for managing public relations inquiries and fostering relationships with media outlets. This role requires strong leadership and expertise in GIS communication.

Who you are

You have a proven track record in communications and public relations, with a strong understanding of media relations and the ability to build relationships with editors and reporters across various media outlets. Your leadership skills are exceptional, and you are motivated to elevate Esri's media presence in a rapidly changing media landscape. You possess a deep understanding of GIS technology and can effectively communicate Esri's mission to diverse audiences. You are adept at overseeing the writing of press releases and other communication documents, ensuring clarity and impact in all messaging.

You thrive in a collaborative environment and are skilled at coaching and mentoring team members, fostering a positive and innovative workplace culture. You understand the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and actively promote these values within your team. Your networking skills are strong, allowing you to identify subject matter experts and interview subjects within Esri and the GIS user community.

Desirable

Experience in managing communication plans for events and campaigns is a plus, as is familiarity with the latest trends in media, including blogs, podcasts, and other non-traditional outlets. You are comfortable navigating the complexities of public relations and are eager to take on new challenges in this dynamic field.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead Esri's in-house media relations team, developing and nurturing relationships with key media contacts. You will partner with the Head of Influence Marketing to create and implement a comprehensive media relations and external communications strategy that aligns with Esri's goals. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the creation and management of communication plans for various initiatives across the organization, ensuring that all messaging is consistent and impactful.

You will serve as the main point of contact for all public relations inquiries, both internally and externally, and will represent Esri at events and strategic initiatives. Your ability to leverage your understanding of GIS will be crucial in effectively communicating Esri's mission and technology to a wide range of audiences. You will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring your team, promoting a culture of innovation and engagement.
