Supervisor, Welding (Starship Propulsion)

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree and at least 4 years of experience in gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), or gas metal arc welding (GMAW), or you bring 8+ years of professional experience in metal fabrication. You have spent at least 2 years in a leadership role, guiding teams and managing performance effectively. Your technical expertise allows you to provide valuable support to your welding team, ensuring that all processes meet high standards of quality and safety. You are adept at reviewing work instructions and making recommendations for improvements, demonstrating your commitment to continuous enhancement of workflows.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead and manage a staff of approximately 30 technicians, overseeing daily schedules and workflow on the production floor. You will be responsible for supervising the production process, ensuring that all welding operations are performed to the highest standards. Your role will involve providing technical support to the welding team, working closely with management and engineering teams to streamline fit-up and welding processes. You will also assist in the design of tooling and fixturing required for welding operations, ensuring that production weld quality is maintained. As a supervisor, you will enforce site and personnel safety, review work instructions, and assess candidates during the hiring process. You will communicate performance expectations clearly to your team and provide collaborative direction to ensure successful outcomes.
