Software Engineer II

Who you are

You have a solid foundation in software engineering principles and at least 3-5 years of experience in developing scalable applications. Your expertise spans both backend and frontend technologies, allowing you to contribute effectively to full-stack projects. You are proficient in programming languages such as Java and JavaScript, and you have experience working with databases like SQL. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and design.

You are familiar with modern software development practices, including Agile methodologies, and you understand the importance of writing clean, maintainable code. You have experience with version control systems like Git and are comfortable using tools for continuous integration and deployment. Your problem-solving skills are strong, and you are eager to tackle challenging technical issues that arise in the development process.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus, as is familiarity with machine learning concepts. You are open to learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving needs of the team. A background in B2B systems or business lifecycle management would be advantageous, as it aligns with the goals of the U4B Platforms Org at Uber.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer II at Uber, you will play a crucial role in building and evolving the best-in-class business systems for our B2B customers. You will work on a full-stack team, tackling significant challenges in backend, frontend, data, and machine learning engineering. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing scalable APIs, developing user-friendly interfaces, and ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to create tools that enhance the business lifecycle management experience for our customers. This will involve gathering requirements, participating in design discussions, and contributing to the overall architecture of the platform. You will also be responsible for writing unit and integration tests to ensure the quality of your code and participating in code reviews to maintain high standards across the team.

In addition to development work, you will have opportunities to mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge with the team. You will be encouraged to explore innovative solutions and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
