Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have war stories from debugging complex distributed systems issues. You possess deep expertise in Go — you've built high-performance applications and understand the intricacies of system architecture and scalability. You are a strong collaborator who enjoys working with product, design, analytics, and customer operations teams to understand the features that drive value for users. You are committed to improving code quality and promoting best practices such as automated testing and code reviews. You have experience managing engineering workstreams to accelerate velocity and support stakeholders effectively. You are also passionate about mentoring peers and contributing to team processes as the team grows.

Desirable

Experience with additional backend technologies or frameworks would be a plus, as well as familiarity with agile methodologies and cloud services.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Squarespace, you will take a lead role in providing a robust platform for the Acuity Scheduling team. You will collaborate closely with your teammates to understand the needs of appointment-based businesses and help them grow by enhancing the scheduling experience. Your work will involve scaling and improving the performance of applications and databases, ensuring that the platform can handle increasing user demands. You will actively contribute to the long-term vision of Squarespace by participating in architectural discussions and design reviews. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge, and fostering a culture of excellence within the team. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Acuity Scheduling platform, helping to reduce administrative burdens for users and allowing them to focus on what they love doing.
