Frustration Free Setup (FFS) team is looking for a talented, experienced engineer to develop device setup solutions for Amazon and third-party products. The role focuses on creating seamless customer experiences through SDK development and cloud services integration. You will join a team responsible for setup experiences across Amazon devices (Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and Kindle) and third-party devices with Alexa integration.
Software development engineer positions require both depth and breadth of knowledge in design and development, experience with agile methodologies, proficiency in a high-level language, experience building highly scalable systems involving distributed services and persistent storage. You will own the design of major deliverables and have opportunities to build them from scratch. This is a high visibility and fast-paced environment where you will make a direct impact on the customer experience and the bottom line of the company.

Key job responsibilities
As an SDE in this group, you will lead and mentor other talented engineers. You will be responsible for building the best customer experience, keeping latency, security, and usability in mind. You will interact with Product Managers and Designers and convert their vision into a technical solution. You will collaborate with other Software Engineers to guide the team on development best practices and set examples by using them in solutions that you build.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of design and development of interactive applications. You should have experience with agile methodologies, working experience with at least one high level programming language, and experience building scalable and robust solutions. You will own the end-to-end design of major deliverables, working closely with a team of SDEs and Product Managers to execute them.
A day in the life
A typical day for an SDE on the Frustration-Free Setup team includes attending team stand-up to discuss what you did yesterday and will do today, creating system designs for upcoming projects, writing code for completed designs, reviewing code written by team members, launching tested code, mentoring junior team members, and meeting with partner teams and stakeholders to discuss future projects.

Frustration-Free Setup (FFS) is an Amazon program that enables Device manufacturers to incorporate technology to make device setup as easy for customers as opening a box and powering on a device. We’ve done the hard work behind the scenes to make the customer’s experience delightfully fast and straightforward. FFS integrates into most device types - including smart speakers, cameras, TVs, and health devices. - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in Mobile development in iOS/Android, or experience in embedded development in C/C++
