AccuWeather is seeking a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial records. You'll work with GAAP principles and Microsoft Excel to assist in the preparation of financial statements. This position requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 1-3 years of accounting experience.
You have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and possess 1-3 years of accounting experience, whether in public or corporate settings. Your strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly GAAP, allows you to maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and have experience with accounting software, which aids you in preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Your attention to detail and organizational skills are exceptional, enabling you to manage the general ledger effectively and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. You are analytical and possess problem-solving abilities that help you reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts efficiently.
While not required, having a CPA or being on the CPA track is preferred, as is experience with ERP systems. These qualifications will enhance your ability to contribute to our high-performing accounting department.
In this role, you will prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments, ensuring the general ledger's accuracy and completeness. You will assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, which are critical for maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting. Your responsibilities will also include reconciling bank statements and other balance sheet accounts, supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports. You will maintain and organize accounting records and documentation, which is essential for audits and compliance with company policies. Collaborating with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and provide financial insights will be a key part of your role, ensuring that our financial operations run smoothly.
