Amazon's Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to join our Analytics team. We deliver business intelligence/data science solutions to a diverse community of internal customers dedicated to supply chain optimization and forecast accuracy. As a BIE, you must possess the ability to dive deep into large amounts of data, have a great business sense, curiosity, a proven ability to deal with complexity, and the desire to influence key strategic decisions with data-driven analysis and insights.
This position requires excellent statistical and analytical abilities, deep knowledge of business intelligence solutions, data science techniques and data engineering practices, and the ability to partner with various teams across Amazon. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, possess a strong attention to detail, and able to collaborate with internal customers to understand and transform business problems into requirements and deliverables.
Key job responsibilities
- Working on new and ambiguous business problems which have not yet been solved before and which offer the chance to innovate and apply novel approaches to tackle these problems at their root while stepping back to understand the broader context.
- Identifying, developing and executing analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present business recommendations to reduce fulfillment cost, optimize resources and protect customer experience.
- Reporting key insight trends, using data science techniques and statistical rigor to simplify and inform business teams of noteworthy story lines that impact the business.
- Working with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a variety of data sources using SQL, scripting language and AWS technologies.
- Recognizing and adopting best practices in reporting, analysis, data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation.
- Develop metrics and reporting for business reviews; and dashboards for self-service deep diving.
About the team
S&OP Automation & Analytics (A&A) team focuses on strategic initiatives that improve the end-to-end customer fulfillment process. We support our planning and execution teams by delivering automated planning tools, prediction models, approachable and actionable analytics to enhance decision-making and optimize resource constraints.
- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g. t-test, Chi-squared)
- Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)- Master's degree, or Advanced technical degree
- Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
- Experience with statistical analysis, co-relation analysis

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
