Handshake is seeking Physics Teachers, Postsecondary to contribute to an AI training project. You'll leverage your expertise in physics to evaluate AI models and provide feedback. This role is remote and flexible, requiring no prior AI experience.
You have at least 4 years of professional experience in physics, ideally as a professor or in a related academic role. Your background includes delivering lectures and supervising laboratory work in topics such as quantum mechanics and optics. You are comfortable evaluating and grading students' academic performance, and you have engaged in research and published findings in your field. You are open to learning new skills and contributing to the development of AI models that reflect your expertise.
Experience in AI or machine learning is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with evaluating educational content and providing structured feedback will be beneficial. You are adaptable and can work independently in a remote setting, managing your own schedule with flexibility.
In this role, you will contribute to an hourly, temporary AI research project by leveraging your professional experience in physics. You will evaluate AI models and assess content related to your field of work, delivering clear and structured feedback that strengthens the model's understanding of physics-related tasks and language. Your work will involve developing prompts for AI models that accurately reflect your field, and you will evaluate the responses generated by these models. The opportunity is asynchronous, allowing you to work independently from wherever you are, with an average commitment of 5–20 hours per week. You will also have the chance to learn new skills and contribute to the evolving use of AI in education.
Handshake offers a unique opportunity to engage with AI technology while utilizing your expertise in physics. The position is remote, providing you with the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States. You will have the chance to participate in a project that runs year-round, with opportunities opening periodically across different areas of expertise. This role is ideal for those looking to contribute to innovative AI research while maintaining a flexible work schedule. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
