As a Engineering Manager, Devops, you will play a crucial role in leading and mentoring a team of cloud engineers while also providing technical guidance to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality cloud infrastructure and Cloud Engineering solutions. Reporting to the Senior Director of CloudOps, your role requires a blend of strong technical expertise in AWS and Cloud Engineering practices, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive the team towards achieving the company's objectives.

 
You will be responsible for:

Strong Technical Focus and Leadership: Dive into challenging technical issues related to AWS infrastructure, guide the team to tackle ambitious problems, and ensure our efforts deliver high-value impact.

Service Ownership and Cloud Engineering Best Practices: Take charge of maintaining and operating our team's AWS services, implementing Cloud Engineering best practices to foster the production of high-quality, well-architected, and sustainable infrastructure as code.

Team Development:
Provide coaching and mentorship to cloud engineers and offer guidance to senior contributors, maximizing their potential.
Conduct regular performance reviews to assess and support engineers' growth and development.
Manage career development plans, ensuring alignment with individual and company goals.

Commercial Insight and Stakeholder Communication: Utilize your interpersonal skills and commercial acumen to ensure team members understand the impact of their work on infrastructure and product delivery. Also, provide estimates for delivery to stakeholders.

Vision Alignment and Strategic Clarity: Clarify the team's vision, mission, and strategy for AWS and Cloud Engineering practices, ensuring alignment with company objectives to avoid wasted efforts.

Collaboration with Product Owner and Development Teams: Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and development teams to comprehend and contribute to the product roadmap, ensuring seamless integration of Cloud Engineering practices.

Agile Methodologies and Continuous Delivery: Employ Agile methodologies with the assistance of the Scrum Master to continuously deliver value to customers through efficient Cloud Engineering processes.

Cultivate a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement through retrospection, encouraging the team to reflect on past experiences and strive for ongoing enhancement of Cloud Engineering practices.

Project Management:
Develop detailed project plans outlining key milestones, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation for Cloud Engineering initiatives.
Ensure transparency by providing detailed reports on initiative status, including metrics, timelines, and any deviations from the plan.

Strategic Input: Provide feedback and input to Senior Managers to align Cloud Engineering initiatives with overall company strategy and vision.


TechnicalRequirements:

AWS Expertise: Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services, including:
Containers (Docker, AWS ECS)
AWS Fargate
Serverless computing (AWS Lambda, API Gateway)
Cloud cost management and optimization
Kubernetes (preferably Amazon EKS)

Networking: Strong understanding of AWS networking concepts (VPC, subnets, security groups, etc.)

Linux-Based Systems: Extensive experience (minimum 8+ years) with Linux-based operating systems, including:
Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Zsh)
System administration and performance tuning
Security hardening and patch management
Troubleshooting and debugging in Linux environments

Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.

CI/CD Expertise: Strong understanding and implementation experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, BuildKite or AWS CodePipeline.

Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.

Monitoring and Logging: Experience with AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar tools.

Security and Compliance:
In-depth knowledge of AWS security best practices and IAM
Experience with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS)
Implementing and maintaining security policies and procedures

Database Management: Familiarity with managing databases in AWS (RDS, DynamoDB, etc.)

 
Education & Experience
●       Minimum 10 years industry experience.
●       BS in CS/ Masters in CS or equivalent.
●       AWS certification(s) (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) preferred.

Excellent Interpersonal Skills: A people person who can mentor, understand and inspire individuals and teams, fostering collaboration and teamwork.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to operate strategically, from conception through continuous operation of 24x7 cloud services. Capable of distilling complex and ambiguous situations into actionable plans for the team.

Agile Advocate: Advocate and practitioner of agile processes, emphasizing continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automation to drive efficiency and productivity.

Delivery Focus: Delivery-focused individual who values curiosity, collaboration, and the development of others to ensure success within the team and organization.
