Overview

Nuro is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to drive system-level safety architecture for their self-driving technology. You'll work with automotive safety standards and perform safety analyses. This role requires expertise in ISO standards and safety assessments.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in systems safety engineering, with a focus on automotive applications. Your experience includes working with safety standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448, ensuring compliance and driving safety initiatives. You are skilled in decomposing vehicle-level safety goals into cohesive Functional Safety Concepts and Technical Safety Concepts, defining safety mechanisms and fault detection strategies. You have a proven track record of leading safety analyses, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis, to identify risks and derive safety requirements. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with controls, embedded software, and hardware teams to ensure the safety of autonomous systems.

Desirable

Experience with safety-critical systems and a deep understanding of the automotive industry will set you apart. Familiarity with the latest advancements in self-driving technology and a passion for making autonomy accessible to all will enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will drive the system-level safety architecture and requirements for the Autonomy Hardware and Firmware of the Nuro Driver. You will ensure compliance with automotive safety standards, leading the development of safety specifications and performance targets for safety-critical systems. Your responsibilities will include performing and reviewing system-level safety analyses to identify risks and derive safety requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine safety concepts and implement safety mechanisms that ensure the reliability and safety of autonomous vehicles. You will also play a key role in fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes inclusion and psychological safety for all employees.
