Director, Engineering, GCS Security and Compliance

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, along with 15 years of experience in engineering. Your leadership experience spans at least 10 years, where you've successfully led organizations of engineers. A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred, and you have a proven track record of delivering hyperscale cloud services to enterprise customers. You excel in collaborating with supplier and partner teams to build innovative solutions, even when they fall outside your direct sphere of influence. Navigating complex, fast-moving environments is second nature to you, and you possess excellent communication skills that allow you to present and simplify complex problems and solutions effectively. Your people leadership skills are exceptional, enabling you to manage complex organizations with ease.

Desirable

Experience in security architecture, policies, and controls is a plus, as is familiarity with global regulatory and industry standards. You are a strategic thought leader who can influence management offerings and contribute to the long-term strategy and innovation of Google Cloud Storage and infrastructure. Your ability to work closely with customer-facing teams, partners, and customers ensures that friction is reduced and adoption is driven effectively.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the GCS Security and Compliance team, responsible for developing and implementing security architecture, policies, and controls that protect customer data. You will ensure that Google Cloud Storage adheres to a wide range of global regulatory and industry standards, including data encryption and access management. Your leadership will guide the team in continuous monitoring and auditing processes to maintain compliance and security. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders across Google, including senior leaders within Cloud, to influence management offerings and drive strategic initiatives. Your contributions will directly impact the security and compliance of critical services that customers trust with their most sensitive data. You will also be involved in shaping the long-term strategy for Google Cloud Storage, ensuring that the infrastructure remains robust and innovative.
