Apple is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enhance rendering performance and power efficiency for the visionOS Freeform team. You'll work with technologies like CoreAnimation, Metal, and RealityKit to deliver high-quality spatial experiences. This role requires 8+ years of experience in performance-sensitive systems.
You have 8+ years of experience shipping complex software, particularly in performance-sensitive systems or applications. Your strong background in graphics and rendering on Apple platforms, including CoreAnimation, CoreGraphics, and Metal, sets you apart. You have demonstrated experience working on rendering pipelines, frame scheduling, and GPU/CPU coordination, showcasing your ability to profile, diagnose, and improve performance, responsiveness, and efficiency. Your technical judgment and engineering skills allow you to translate architectural direction into concrete execution, influencing technical decisions through careful measurement. You are also committed to raising quality through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship, fostering a collaborative environment.
Experience with cross-layer systems debugging and a deep understanding of application behavior will be beneficial. Familiarity with visionOS, iOS, and macOS will help you contribute broadly to complex systems challenges as the product and platform mature. You are eager to evolve with the role and take on new challenges as they arise.
In this role, you will focus on delivering smooth, responsive, and power-efficient spatial experiences on Apple Vision Pro. You will work closely with platform and performance teams across Apple, investigating performance and power issues while driving high-impact fixes. Your work will span application behavior, system scheduling, memory, and rendering, translating real-world usage into durable, production-ready improvements. As the product matures, you will contribute to complex systems challenges across visionOS, iOS, and macOS, ensuring that the user experience remains top-notch.
You will be responsible for translating architectural direction into concrete execution, influencing technical decisions through careful measurement and engineering judgment. Your role will also involve raising quality through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship, helping to cultivate a high-performing team culture.
