Google is hiring a Data Center Technician to support hardware operations across all shifts. You'll be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and networking issues while working with Linux systems. This role requires physical stamina and experience in a data center environment.
You have experience with Linux system administration and a solid understanding of diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You are physically capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50lb and can exert yourself over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. You are adaptable and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays. Ideally, you hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and have completed the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program. With at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, you are familiar with data center or network operation center environments and have experience performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and server software. You will work collaboratively with your team to monitor the physical infrastructure that supports Google's powerful search technology. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with Google security standards. You will also disassemble equipment that has reached its end-of-life and participate in repairs and maintenance based on identified issues. Your role will require you to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment and collaborate effectively with other teams to overcome challenges.
