Senior Payment Operations & Risk Analyst

Who you are

You have 2+ years of experience in evaluating and mitigating merchant risk for loss, ideally within e-commerce, Payments, FinTech, or online marketplaces. Your background includes a strong understanding of fraud detection and risk management methodologies, allowing you to proactively identify and reduce fraudulent activities. You are skilled in data analysis, enabling you to continuously monitor and evaluate fraud and merchant portfolio risks through internal and external reports and tools. You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering closely with Finance, Customer Operations, Security, and Trust & Safety teams to resolve escalated client issues and improve risk reporting processes. You are also comfortable making decisions to approve, reject, or escalate users for further information based on your assessments.

Desirable

Experience in training and mentoring new Risk Analysts is a plus, as you will help expand the team and share your knowledge. Familiarity with designing, implementing, and monitoring new methodologies and metrics for risk process effectiveness will enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will help lay the foundation for a world-class Payments and Risk Operations function at Squarespace. You will continuously monitor and evaluate fraud and merchant portfolio risks, identifying high-risk merchants based on known trends and risk signals. Your responsibilities will include investigating and resolving escalated cases of account suspensions and conducting merchant and transaction-level risk reviews to assess risk at onboarding and beyond. You will partner with the Payments and Customer Operations team to resolve escalated client issues, identifying fraud rings and patterns of abuse as they arise. Additionally, you will contribute to maintaining and improving current risk reporting, ensuring that the team is equipped with the best tools and methodologies to combat fraud effectively.
