SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Technician (Merlin Turbopump/Injector) to assemble and test rocket hardware. You'll utilize your mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in a dynamic production environment in Hawthorne, CA.
You possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have a solid mechanical knowledge base. Your hands-on experience in assembly and testing of mechanical systems makes you a strong candidate for this role. You are willing and eager to learn, demonstrating flexibility to work on different systems and troubleshoot anomalies as they arise. You understand the importance of safety and quality in all aspects of your work, ensuring that you maintain a professional and neat work area at all times.
As a Propulsion Technician, you will support day-to-day production activities, which include various manufacturing processes such as assembly, precision cleaning, non-destructive testing, heat treating, and machining. You will troubleshoot failure modes and provide detailed photo documentation and feedback to engineering teams. Utilizing precision calibrated tools like torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers will be a regular part of your responsibilities. You will also perform blending, filing, and shearing of sheet metal piece parts, ensuring that all work is conducted according to established procedures, specifications, and test instructions. Reading and interpreting technical drawings will be essential, as will following detailed work instructions to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in your role.
