Overview

Amazon is hiring a Hardware Development Engineer for the AWS Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena. You'll work on semiconductor process development and lithography techniques to advance quantum computing services. This role requires experience in fabrication processes and problem-solving skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in hardware engineering, particularly in semiconductor process development, with a focus on lithography techniques. Your experience includes working in cleanroom environments and solving complex problems related to the fabrication and characterization of quantum processors. You possess excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of engineering principles, which allows you to effectively collaborate with project leads and team members.

Your expertise in photolithography processes and tools, such as direct write systems, mask aligners, and DUV/iLine steppers, sets you apart. You thrive in team environments and are dedicated to improving and sustaining fabrication processes. You are detail-oriented and analytical, with a knack for analyzing inline metrology and inspections to enhance production quality.

You are passionate about the long-term challenges of developing quantum computing technology and are eager to contribute to AWS's mission of delivering cloud quantum computing services to a global customer base. You understand the importance of continuous improvement and are committed to providing feedback that drives process enhancements.

Desirable

Experience with advanced semiconductor fabrication techniques and a background in quantum computing will be advantageous. Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and safety standards is also a plus, as is a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation in hardware development.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, improving, and sustaining fabrication processes for quantum processors. You will work closely with the device fabrication group, engaging in both hands-on work in the cleanroom and analytical tasks outside of it. Your responsibilities will include analyzing inline metrology and inspections to ensure high-quality production standards.

You will collaborate with project leads to provide insights and feedback that contribute to the continuous improvement of fabrication processes. Your role will require you to tackle challenges related to the fabrication and characterization of novel quantum processors, ensuring that AWS remains at the forefront of quantum computing technology.

You will also participate in team meetings and discussions, sharing your expertise and insights to foster a collaborative environment. Your contributions will play a crucial role in advancing AWS's efforts in quantum computing, and you will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that has the potential to transform industries.
