MongoDB is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the development of their integrated search platform. You'll work with Java and distributed systems to enhance search capabilities. This role requires 10+ years of experience in data management systems.
You have over 10 years of experience in data management systems, showcasing your expertise in handling complex data architectures and ensuring data integrity. Proficient in modern programming languages and techniques, you are eager to impact and envision the technological future of complex systems. Your background includes developing distributed systems, cloud services, and SaaS products, which positions you well for this role. While experience in designing and maintaining search platforms or distributed databases is preferred, it is not a strict requirement. You are also familiar with debugging and profiling multithreaded JVM applications and distributed applications, which will be beneficial in this position.
In this role, you will be directly responsible for delivering on goals that span a 6-18 month timeframe, playing a key role in defining the roadmap for the next 12 months. You will build and design MongoDB's integrated search platform, leveraging your deep knowledge of the product's strengths and weaknesses as well as industry trends to provide technical vision and direction. Advising management on decisions related to roadmap, processes, architecture, and design will be part of your responsibilities. You will collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams across the company to work on large initiatives, influencing and growing team members through active mentoring, coaching, and leading by example.
MongoDB offers a competitive salary range for this role in Canada, between $159,000 and $221,000 CAD. In addition to a strong salary, you will have access to a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision benefits, as well as a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with employer match. The company also provides mental health counseling and backup child and elder care, ensuring a supportive work environment. You will be part of a hybrid working model, allowing for flexibility in your work arrangements while being based in Toronto.
