RStudio is hiring a Software Engineer to contribute to the Posit Workbench platform, empowering data science teams. You'll work with Rust, C++, and SQL in a remote setting. This role requires 2+ years of experience in software development.
You have 2+ years of professional experience writing software in Rust or C++ on Linux or macOS — you understand the intricacies of these languages and platforms, and you are comfortable navigating their ecosystems. You're familiar with SQL and building services backed by relational databases — your experience allows you to design efficient data models and optimize queries for performance. You are user-focused and mission-driven, facilitating data science and education for everyone — your commitment to creating delightful user experiences drives your work. You share our commitment to robust design, clean and well-tested code, and you take pride in delivering high-quality software. You break down complex problems into bite-size tasks and drive them to completion — your accountability and ownership over your features contribute to the overall success of the product. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with other developers and QA engineers to ensure the best outcomes for our customers.
In this role, you will exercise your technical expertise to design features that have a major impact on the whole product — your contributions will shape the future of the Posit Workbench platform. You will review feature designs from other engineers, providing constructive feedback and ensuring alignment with best practices. Investigating challenging bugs and customer issues will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you work to enhance the reliability and performance of our software. You will collaborate with small sub-teams of developers and QA engineers, rotating teams each feature cycle to facilitate knowledge transfer and reduce silos. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively will be essential as you engage in optional weekly coffee chats and monthly online games with your remote team.
We offer a supportive remote work environment where you can connect with your colleagues and contribute to a cutting-edge platform. You'll have opportunities for professional growth and development, as we encourage continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences for our customers, and your role will be pivotal in achieving this mission. We value accountability, collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership, and we believe that these qualities lead to the best outcomes for our users. Join us in making a difference in the world of data science and education.
