Job Description

Are you excited to drive high-visibility, long term Supply Chain and Transportation plans to help Amazon meet future operational and analytics needs?

Looking for a motivated individual with strong Data Engineering and analytical skills, supply chain and transportation knowledge, and technology experience to join our Supply Chain Execution Planning and Analytics team as a DE. This position partners with several functional groups such as supply chain optimization, fulfillment technology, sales and operations, transportation, and several other key stakeholders throughout the process.

As a Data Engineer, primary responsibilities would include designing and implementing robust data pipelines to collect, transform, and store data from various sources. Focus on optimizing pipelines for performance and scalability, ensuring that data is readily available for analysis by BIEs and analysts. Additionally, you would work on data quality assurance, implementing validation checks and monitoring processes to maintain data accuracy and integrity. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and staying updated with the latest data engineering technologies would be an integral part of this role, ensuring that the organization's data infrastructure remains efficient and adaptable to changing business needs.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement robust data pipelines for ETL processes
- Build and maintain data collection systems from various sources
- Ensure scalability and performance optimization of pipeline architecture
- Integrate data from multiple systems, databases, and external sources
- Maintain data consistency and compatibility across platforms
- Implement data storage and retrieval solutions
- Develop and implement data validation checks
- Monitor data accuracy and integrity
- Establish quality control processes and documentation
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies
- Monitor and optimize database performance
- Improve query efficiency and processing speeds
- Scale solutions to handle increasing data volumes
- Maintain and upgrade data infrastructure
- Create and maintain effective data structures and schemas
- Design efficient data storage solutions
- Develop data models to support analytical requirements
- Work with Business Intelligence Engineers and analysts
- Liaise between technical and business teams
- Communicate data insights and recommendations
- Support data-driven decision making
- Stay current with emerging data engineering technologies
- Recommend and implement new tools and methodologies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data processes
- Assist in data gathering and manipulation for business insights
- Support data modeling and simulation projects
- Help translate business requirements into technical solutions- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
