The Exploration Company is seeking an FPGA Engineer to develop electronic systems for their modular space orbital vehicle, Nyx. You'll work with VHDL and Python to validate FPGA functions and design digital interfaces. This role requires expertise in digital electronics and FPGA design.
You have a strong background in digital electronics and FPGA design, with experience in writing VHDL code to validate functions in FPGAs. You are comfortable collaborating with systems engineers to define capabilities and requirements for digital functionality. Your expertise includes designing and validating digital interfaces circuitry such as CAN, RS422, UART, I2C, SPI, and Spacewire. You have a solid understanding of failure tolerance and radiation tolerance in electronic systems, ensuring that designs meet the rigorous demands of space environments.
You are skilled in writing test software to validate interfaces and hardware functions, and you have experience in conducting full test cycles from the initial power-up of prototypes to the serial testing of flight hardware. Your proficiency in Python allows you to create and adapt test scripts for automation, enhancing the efficiency of testing processes. You are detail-oriented and committed to ensuring that all electronic systems function reliably in challenging conditions.
Experience with space systems or aerospace engineering is a plus, as is familiarity with the specific challenges of working in a space environment. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for innovation in aerospace technology will set you apart.
In your role as an FPGA Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the electronic systems necessary for the Nyx capsule to operate effectively. You will write VHDL code to validate all required functions in the FPGAs, ensuring that they meet the high standards necessary for space missions. You will collaborate closely with the team designing digital circuit boards that incorporate FPGAs and microcontrollers, providing valuable inputs to enhance the design process.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include designing and validating digital interfaces circuitry, working with protocols such as CAN, RS422, UART, I2C, SPI, and Spacewire. You will also write initial test software to validate the interfaces and hardware functions, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together. As part of the testing process, you will conduct full test cycles, from the first power-up of prototypes to the final serial test concept of flight hardware.
You will be involved in creating and adapting test scripts in Python for test automation, which will streamline the testing process and improve overall efficiency. Your role will evolve continuously as you work on innovative solutions to meet the challenges of space exploration, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of technology.
The Exploration Company offers a dynamic work environment where you can contribute to exciting projects in the aerospace sector. You will be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration, working towards the common goal of advancing space technology. We provide relocation assistance for those willing to move to Munich, including visa sponsorship where applicable. Join us in our mission to revolutionize space travel and exploration.
