Job Description

The Retail Pricing team drives the success of Amazon Retail. We build software that makes billions of monthly pricing recommendations on our marketplaces. We earn our customers' trust by consistently delivering the lowest prices possible: we price and publish prices automatically for the millions of products bought worldwide every day by our customers.

You will be joining Comp Match Data Analytics team which consists of several Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers.

We are looking for a highly analytical Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to help develop/build data solutions, generate automatic insights and leverage anomaly detection tools/technologies which will help Retail Pricing teams to deliver the best prices to our customers. Data analysis is at the core of Amazon’s culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision making and strategy for our team. You will be gathering customer insights, mining data, making recommendations, and helping senior leaders make key business decisions.

This position requires high judgment, excellent analytical abilities, a creative mind; it also offers broad exposure to various business, operational, financial, and technical teams across Amazon.


Key job responsibilities
- Identify opportunities and key criteria to drive analytical reporting, models and business strategy
- Conducting deep dive analyses of business problems and formulate conclusions and recommendations to be presented to senior leadership.
- Producing written recommendations and insights for key stakeholders that will help shape effective metric development and reporting.
- Building simple and effective infrastructure tools with scalability top of mind.
- Simplifying and automating reporting, audits, and other data-driven activities; build solutions to have maximum scale and self-service ability by stakeholders.
- Improving back-end data sources for increased accuracy and simplicity.
- Recognizing and adopting best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
- Supporting business with time-critical tactical data analyses.
- Understanding a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use.- 7+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions- Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.
- Experience working as a BIE in a technology company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
