SpaceX is seeking a Metal Spinning Technician (COPV) to perform machining tasks and ensure precision in metal parts assembly. This role requires hands-on experience with machinery and tools, ideally in a structural assembly context.
You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 1 year of experience in structural assembly, machine operation, or hand tool usage. Alternatively, you may hold a certificate from an accredited trade school or program. You are comfortable working with large moveable structures and have a basic understanding of machining operations and precision assembly. Your experience may include the use of cranes, forklifts, or jacks, and you are familiar with heat treating processes.
As a Metal Spinning Technician at SpaceX, you will be responsible for drilling, reaming, and countersinking full-size holes in parts and assemblies to meet specified dimensional requirements. You will use various tools, including drill motors, bits, reamers, and countersinks, ensuring that all tasks are completed in the correct sequence and to the correct size. Additionally, you will deburr holes using deburring tools and files to prepare for the installation of fasteners, clamps, and positioners. You will also assemble and disassemble tools according to process specifications and perform metal blending to achieve close-tolerance surface finishes. Your role will involve moving, mounting, configuring, and setting up workpieces to meet machine requirements prior to machining, spin forming, or heat treating. You will run machinery and equipment to perform tasks, including CNC machining, spin forming, and heat treating.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact the future of space travel. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
