Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician, Electrical to manage and maintain electrical systems in their data centers. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This role requires 5+ years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field, along with at least 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment. Your background includes working with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution systems, which has equipped you with the skills necessary to handle complex electrical tasks. You are familiar with OSHA standard safety equipment and understand the importance of safety protocols in a technical environment. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Your ability to work non-standard hours and adapt to shift rotations is a testament to your commitment to the role.
You have a strong preference for candidates with 5 years of experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or in a construction/technical environment. Your knowledge extends to electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. You are adept at using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques with standard hand tools and digital metering equipment. Your communication skills enable you to effectively collaborate with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems.
As a Data Center Facilities Technician at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions of the data center. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of UPS systems, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems. You will be tasked with responding to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. You will also support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the data center operations.
You will work closely with a team of professionals dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of electrical engineering and facilities management. Your role will require you to assess the working order of various systems and implement necessary maintenance protocols to ensure continuous operation.
