Job Description

Apple News is dedicated to elevating trusted journalism and supporting the publishers who produce it. Our work helps millions of readers connect with high-quality reporting every day while enabling news organizations to thrive in the digital era. We operate like a lean, high-impact startup within a large company—fast, collaborative, and deeply committed to building the future of news. Every team member is empowered to influence product direction, optimize performance, and take on meaningful responsibility in a dynamic environment full of opportunity. The News Subscription Analyst will play a critical role in shaping the insights, financial understanding, and business analysis that fuel our subscription strategy and feature development. This role will partner closely with Business leadership and cross-functional teams to assess opportunities, guide planning, and help translate data into clear business decisions. If you’re analytical, curious, and excited to support the evolution of a global subscription product, this role offers the chance to contribute at the ground level of impactful, forward-looking work.

Description

Your day-to-day will combine analytical rigor, cross-functional collaboration, and thoughtful storytelling. You’ll help evaluate the financial and subscriber impact of new ideas, track business performance, and support planning across the product and partnerships landscape.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Statistics, or related field. 4+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, business analytics, or strategy roles. Strong analytical and modeling skills with proficiency in Excel. Ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and recommendations. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with comfort presenting to internal stakeholders. Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in subscription-based, content-driven, or media businesses. Familiarity with digital content performance or subscription funnels. Comfort working with cross-functional partners, particularly Finance, Analytics and Engineering. Demonstrated ability to operate with curiosity, attention to detail, and a drive to improve processes. Passion for journalism, product development, and understanding how content and product work together to drive subscriber value.

Responsibilities

Analyze subscription KPIs, performance trends, and business metrics to uncover drivers, risks, and opportunities. Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support product planning and strategic decision-making. Prepare business reviews, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and cross-functional teams. Evaluate the projected impact of new features, content additions, licensing initiatives, and subscriber experiences. Partner closely with the team to translate business needs into actionable insights for Product, Engineering, and Partnerships. Support the development and refinement of roadmap proposals by assessing financial implications and subscriber outcomes. Conduct ad hoc analyses to support pricing strategies, retention programs, and feature investment decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional partners in the multiple offices, with up to 25% travel for planning sessions, workshops, and on-site collaboration. Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguity-friendly environment that values initiative, clarity, and strong communication.
