Senior Software Engineer I

Who you are

You have 4+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in backend engineering, where you've built scalable applications that serve millions of users. Your educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, providing you with a solid foundation in software principles and practices. You are proficient in programming languages such as Java and Python, and you understand the intricacies of writing high-quality, performant, and reliable code. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with other engineers to solve complex problems and deliver impactful features. You are comfortable participating in on-call rotations and are proactive in resolving incidents within defined service level agreements (SLAs). You are familiar with agile methodologies and contribute to the continuous evolution of engineering practices within your team.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure would be a plus, as would familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker. You have a keen interest in AI and are eager to apply it to enhance user experiences and streamline operations. You are a curious problem-solver who enjoys tackling challenges and finding innovative solutions.

What you'll do

In this role, you will work closely with your team to build highly scalable and robust backend applications and services that power Careem's Everything App. You will be responsible for writing high-quality code while working on defined tasks and bugs independently. Your ability to understand functional specifications will enable you to deliver complete features that meet user needs. You will actively participate in team agile practices, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives, and helping to refine processes for continuous improvement. You will also engage in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to your peers to ensure code quality and maintainability. As part of your responsibilities, you will monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring that the services you build are reliable and efficient.
