Amazon's Economic Development Policy (EDP) team seeks an experienced economic development professional to support our rapidly growing business operations and real estate footprint expansion in Brazil.
The ideal candidate will develop and drive strategies to support Amazon investments. Specifically, this role will primarily support the expansion of Amazon’s operations network. The role will also support additional Amazon investment projects and unlock business opportunities. They will engage with economic development officials, investment agencies, and permitting agencies, collaborating closely with Amazon real estate, construction, regulatory, legal, public relations, and other public policy stakeholders. To be successful in this position, you must be inquisitive, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with Amazon business teams, including operations, real estate, regulatory, legal, public policy, tax, HR, finance and public relations, to support project investments, business expansion plans, and related site requirements.
- Support the site selection process, including due diligence, permitting and entitlements, and project approvals.
- Work directly with economic development organizations, investment agencies, workforce development organizations, local governments, utilities, and other key government agencies, as well as community stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
- Craft agreements and partnerships to support projects and local communities.
- Manage relationships with outside legal counsel, developers, and other professional service providers.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
- 8+ years experience in economic development, government, intergovernmental organizations, or similar private sector experience working with government agencies.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
- Candidate should be fluent in English and Portuguese
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline
- Experience engaging with corporate business leaders, high level government officials, and external stakeholders, to include public policy and/or government affairs experience.
- Demonstrated track record of success in developing successful partnerships with all levels of investment agencies, economic development organizations, governments, and other public and private stakeholder groups.
- Strong understanding of facility permitting and site entitlement approval processes.
- Significant experience in managing economic development, infrastructure, and workforce development issues for large scale construction and expansion development projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including experience making presentations in public forums.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
