Overview

Axon is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Scientist II to advance AI applications in Cloud, Devices, and Robotics. You'll work with Computer Vision and Multimodal Large Language Models, collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role requires expertise in machine learning and computer vision technologies.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in machine learning and computer vision, with at least 5 years of experience in developing and deploying AI solutions. Your expertise includes working with Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) and you are proficient in programming languages such as Python. You have a proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive impactful AI projects, and you are passionate about using technology to solve critical safety and justice issues.

You are a natural leader, capable of providing technical guidance to junior scientists and helping them transition research concepts into practical applications. Your innovative mindset allows you to explore new techniques in AI and computer vision, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can take ownership of your work and drive real change.

Desirable

Experience with Generative AI and cloud-based AI applications is a plus. Familiarity with robotics and intelligent perception systems will set you apart. You are also comfortable working in a hybrid environment, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration.

What you'll do

As a Senior Machine Learning Scientist II at Axon, you will own key technical areas within the Computer Vision and Machine Learning (CVML) product portfolio. You will lead research and development efforts to advance state-of-the-art techniques in MLLMs and computer vision technologies. Your role will involve designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge algorithms that enable intelligent perception and understanding of visual data across Axon's ecosystem of devices and cloud software.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that your research translates into impactful product features. Your contributions will directly influence the development of AI applications that enhance safety and justice in society. You will also mentor junior scientists, fostering their growth and helping them navigate the complexities of AI research and development.
