Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Senior PCB Librarian to support the design and reliability of Starlink satellites and ground stations. You'll create and maintain ECAD parts libraries and collaborate with engineering teams. This role requires 8+ years of experience in PCB design.

Job Description

Who you are

You have over 8 years of professional experience creating schematic symbols and physical footprints using ECAD tools — your expertise allows you to maintain electronic computer-aided design (ECAD) parts libraries effectively. You are familiar with IPC specifications and possess a working knowledge of IPC-7351, which enhances your ability to create reliable designs. Your proficiency in Excel aids in managing library configurations and data effectively, ensuring that all parts are accurately represented and easily accessible.

You have strong communication skills that enable you to work effectively with manufacturing and engineering teams — your ability to interpret manufacturer’s datasheets and dimensioned drawings is crucial for successful collaboration. You thrive in environments where teamwork is essential, and you enjoy interfacing with PCB designers and reliability engineers to support the mission of delivering high-speed broadband internet through Starlink.

Desirable

You are IPC certified and hold a CID certification, which demonstrates your commitment to maintaining high standards in PCB design. Your experience managing library configurations showcases your organizational skills and attention to detail, making you a valuable asset to any engineering team.

What you'll do

As a Senior PCB Librarian at SpaceX, you will be responsible for creating library parts as needed by design engineers — your role is critical in ensuring that the design and reliability of Starlink satellites and ground stations meet the highest standards. You will maintain electronic computer-aided design (ECAD) parts libraries, including both schematic symbols and physical footprints, which are essential for the design process.

You will work closely with other PCB librarians, PCB designers, and manufacturing and reliability engineers to support the mission of SpaceX — your contributions will directly impact the development of technologies that enable human life on Mars. You will interface with manufacturing and design engineers, ensuring that all parts are accurately represented in the shared libraries, which will be maintained in a database format.

Your ability to work from schematic designs and basic descriptions of board functions will be essential in creating accurate and reliable library parts. You will also be involved in library configuration management, ensuring that all parts are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploring the stars — your work will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that make high-speed broadband internet accessible to underserved locations. We offer a collaborative work environment where your skills and expertise will be valued and recognized.

You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that have a significant impact on the future of space exploration and technology — your contributions will help shape the future of communication and connectivity. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Join us at SpaceX and be part of a mission that is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not exploring the stars.
