Affirm is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Servicing International team. You'll focus on building scalable solutions for purchase protection, collaborating closely with global engineering teams. This role requires expertise in Java and Spring.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building production systems that scale effectively. You have a strong understanding of the entire software development lifecycle and have successfully led projects from conception to deployment, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Your expertise in Java and Spring is deep — you've developed high-performance APIs and understand the nuances of service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You are comfortable navigating complex technical challenges and enjoy solving open-ended problems.
Collaboration is key for you; you thrive in environments where you can partner with product management, design, and analytics teams. You articulate technical constraints clearly and contribute to ideation sessions, ensuring that all decisions consider risks and trade-offs effectively.
You are passionate about creating world-class user experiences and are excited by the challenge of launching products in new regions. Your ability to work closely with international teams demonstrates your adaptability and commitment to achieving shared goals.
Experience with purchase protection systems or similar domains would be a plus. Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools like Jira can enhance your contributions to the team.
In this role, you will own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve complex problems. You will ensure that your team is supported throughout the delivery process, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.
You will actively participate in the product development lifecycle, working closely with peers and stakeholders to drive projects forward. Your role will involve ideation sessions where you will help articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions that balance risks and trade-offs.
You will be responsible for building scalable solutions that enhance the user journey, particularly focusing on purchase protection, disputes, and refunds. Your contributions will directly impact customer trust and satisfaction as Affirm expands into new international markets.
You will also engage in code reviews, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and contribute to the overall technical direction of the team. Your insights will help shape the foundational platform that supports Affirm's global expansion efforts.
Affirm provides a supportive and inclusive work environment where you can thrive. You will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that impact the lives of consumers worldwide. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective could be just what we need.
