Google is hiring a Data Center Technician II to perform assembly, repairs, and troubleshooting of technical equipment in their data center. You'll work with operating systems, computer/server hardware, and networking protocols. This role requires experience in a similar environment and physical capability to handle equipment.
You have a solid background in assembling mechanical or electrical systems, and you are experienced in performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. Your expertise includes diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You are physically capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50lb (23kg) and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are flexible with your schedule and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required.
You hold a certification in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program or have a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols, you have a proven track record of working within a data center or network operation center environment. Your experience includes performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in similar roles such as systems administration, network deployment engineer, or help desk technician. You excel in collaborating and partnering with teams to overcome challenges and adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment.
As a Data Center Technician II at Google, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting technical equipment within the data center. You will monitor the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that supports Google's powerful search technology. Your role will involve disassembling specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life and performing maintenance based on identified issues with defined solutions. You will work closely with your team to ensure that all equipment is functioning optimally and that any security issues are handled according to Google security standards. You will also be involved in preventative maintenance on servers, machines, and infrastructure, ensuring that all systems are running smoothly and efficiently.
