Datadog is hiring a Senior AI Engineer to build AI-assisted tools that enhance developer productivity. You'll work with Java, Python, and Go to create LLM-based agents. This role requires 5+ years of experience in backend engineering and a passion for Generative AI.
You are a backend engineer with at least 5 years of professional experience in building production systems at scale. You value code simplicity and performance, and you have a strong understanding of how to ship software that utilizes LLMs in production environments. Your expertise includes programming languages such as Java, Python, and Go, and you are passionate about Generative AI and its potential to enhance the productivity of software engineers.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with users, designers, product managers, and data scientists. You have a product-minded approach and are eager to define and ship innovative tools that can significantly improve the efficiency of developers. You stay updated with the latest research on LLM prompting, agents, and code editing, and you are excited about the opportunity to prototype and iterate on new ideas.
Experience with AI-assisted development tools and a strong understanding of how to integrate these tools into existing workflows would be beneficial. Familiarity with Datadog products and services is a plus, as is a background in working with IDE extensions or similar technologies.
In this role, you will work closely with various teams to develop AI-assisted tools that help Datadog developers become more effective. You will focus on creating LLM-based agents that autonomously generate tests, fix bugs, and improve performance. Your responsibilities will include defining and prototyping new products, iterating based on user feedback, and shipping solutions that enhance the developer experience.
You will collaborate with designers and product managers to ensure that the tools you create are user-friendly and meet the needs of Datadog customers. Additionally, you will work on integrating these tools with existing Datadog products, such as IDE extensions, to deliver a CoPilot-like assistant that enhances productivity.
Your role will also involve following the latest research in the field of AI and LLMs, applying this knowledge to improve the tools you develop. You will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of your prototypes in real-world scenarios and making necessary adjustments based on user feedback.
Datadog values a collaborative office culture that fosters creativity and strong relationships among team members. We operate as a hybrid workplace, allowing you to create a work-life harmony that best fits your needs. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that has a significant impact on the productivity of developers across the globe. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
