Datadog is hiring an Engineering Manager for their APM SDK Capabilities team to lead a senior, polyglot team focused on observability infrastructure. You'll work with technologies like Java and OpenTelemetry to enhance developer experience. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills.
You have a proven track record of leading engineering teams, ideally with experience in observability or related fields. Your background includes a deep understanding of APIs and infrastructure, and you thrive at the intersection of technical leadership and developer experience. You are passionate about building systems that empower other engineering teams and have a strong focus on well-designed APIs. You understand the importance of observability-first thinking and are eager to guide technical direction across multiple language SDKs. You have experience working cross-functionally with product teams and are skilled at ensuring that instrumentation is both powerful and easy to adopt.
Experience with APM tools or OpenTelemetry is a plus, as is familiarity with various programming languages and frameworks. You should be comfortable navigating complex technical discussions and have a knack for mentoring and developing talent within your team.
As the Engineering Manager for APM SDK Capabilities, you will lead a senior team responsible for building the core infrastructure that underpins Datadog’s tracing libraries. You will partner with APM and OpenTelemetry product teams to shape the technical direction and ensure that the developer experience remains smooth and consistent.
