SpaceX is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Optical Production to manage integration build flow and optimize manufacturing processes. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to deliver optical assemblies for satellites. This role requires 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
You have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline and bring over 5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering. Your expertise includes design, manufacturing, testing, and flight, allowing you to tackle complex engineering challenges with confidence. You possess strong engineering intuition and critical thinking skills, enabling you to work effectively under ambiguous requirements with minimal oversight. Your collaborative nature allows you to interface seamlessly with both engineers and technicians, optimizing manufacturing and automation processes. You are comfortable managing integration build flow and test operations, ensuring that all components meet the required specifications.
Experience with optical systems or satellite technology is a plus, as is familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to take on new inter-departmental development projects. Your ability to evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration will be crucial in this role, as will your skills in developing and refining manufacturing assembly procedures based on lessons learned.
In this role, you will manage the integration build flow and test operations for optical assemblies required for SpaceX satellites. You will evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration, ensuring that all components are optimized for production. Your responsibilities will include interfacing with engineers and technicians to drive improvements at the system level, as well as developing and refining manufacturing assembly procedures based on lessons learned. You will enable day-to-day execution of product integration and test flow, evaluating non-conformances to determine root causes and create actionable items for system improvements. Your work will directly contribute to the success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.
