Job Description

We are looking for a Sr Embedded Software Development Engineer to help design, develop, and integrate our next generation devices. In this role you will work with customers, system architects, program managers and hardware engineers to implement, troubleshoot, fix kernel drivers, BSP for our next generation devices.
You will be responsible for the development of real-time embedded firmware and embedded Linux software that implements security controls for the platform.

Key job responsibilities

The- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C code
- Debug and troubleshoot issues in the Kernel drivers, BSP and integration with OS frameworks.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to problems found in the product integration and field
- Develop and implement a wide range of low-level embedded software (including kernel device drivers, network stack development, porting existing software to new embedded platforms, and other low-level programming activities), hardware development, as well as the development of application software
- Develop and customize BSP, graphics, and port
- Develop, port, and test software and firmware layers inside the Linux Kernel and frameworks
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.
- Participate in code and design reviews.


About the team
Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineer’s high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV and Amazon Echo.- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
- Experience writing low level drivers
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team- Knowledge of Yocto Project or other embedded Linux build systems.
- Understanding of hardware chipset architectures (e.g. ARM, RISCV)
- Understanding of hardware interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, PCIe).
- Experience with reading and understanding hardware schematics
- Experience shipping products with Linux BSPs
- Experience with ATF, SCP, and Linux early stage bootloaders
- Experience with Android OS development and customization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
