Data Center Operations Manager, Global Server Operations

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware. Your background includes 5 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor relationships, and contract management. You are flexible and able to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the role.

Your experience in data center environments is extensive, particularly in building and operating infrastructure, network architecture, and Linux/Unix system administration. You have a proven track record of initiating and executing initiatives in a global environment, leading projects from initiation to completion, and directing operations management initiatives. You are also committed to improving environmental health and safety initiatives within your team.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Operations Manager at Google, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians, overseeing the quality installation of server hardware and components. You will take charge of complicated installations and troubleshooting, ensuring that your team installs, configures, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and server software, including Google's Linux cluster. Your role will involve managing the implementation of projects within the team and ensuring that data center-related priorities align with company objectives. You will communicate priorities team-wide and facilitate the management of operations to follow shift leads, working collaboratively to identify and resolve problems while creating solutions for the global computing and network architecture.
