Google is seeking a Facilities Technician, Electrical to manage and maintain electrical systems in their data centers. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This role requires 5+ years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
You have a minimum of 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, demonstrating your ability to work with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution systems. Your background includes an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. You are familiar with safety equipment and ergonomic guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment while handling equipment. You are capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and are comfortable working non-standard hours and shifts. Your experience includes maintenance of electrical distribution systems, ideally in data centers, hospitals, or power plants, showcasing your ability to operate in complex environments.
You possess knowledge of electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. You are skilled in using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques with standard hand tools and digital metering equipment. Your communication skills enable you to effectively collaborate with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to safety standards.
Experience in a construction or technical environment is a plus, as is familiarity with the specific electrical systems used in data centers. Your ability to assess and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems and equipment is crucial for maintaining uptime and operational efficiency. You are proactive in supporting the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, contributing to the overall success of the data center operations.
As a Facilities Technician at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities systems within the data center. Your responsibilities include managing the uptime and maintenance of critical systems such as UPS, generators, and electrical distribution. You will be tasked with troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise in the facilities systems, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally.
