Google is seeking a Data Center Technician to support operations in Bridgeport, AL. You'll be responsible for assembling mechanical and electrical systems, diagnosing technical issues, and performing repairs. This role requires experience with operating systems, computer hardware, and networking protocols.
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You possess the physical ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are flexible with your schedule and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays. You may have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, and you have completed the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program. You have at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols. You have experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as systems administration, network deployment engineer, or help desk technician. You have worked within a data center or network operation center environment and can collaborate and partner with teams to overcome issues while adapting to changes in a dynamic work environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for disassembling specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, working in a team setting. You will repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance. You will monitor the state-of-the-art security issues managed in accordance with Google security standards. You will collaborate with other technicians and engineers to ensure the smooth operation of the data center. You will be expected to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while working on various tasks. You will also be involved in documenting processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency. Your role will require you to stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in data center operations. You will contribute to a culture of safety and compliance within the data center environment.
